Stairlift questions, answered

How much do stairlifts cost in Manchester?+

Our new straight stairlifts start from £1,195 fitted, curved stairlifts from £2,950, and reconditioned stairlifts from £995. For comparison, Which? puts typical national prices at £2,000 to £4,000 for a straight stairlift and £4,500 to £8,000 or more for a curved one (2026). Every quote follows a free home survey and is fixed in writing.

How quickly can a stairlift be fitted?+

Most straight stairlifts are fitted within 48 hours of the survey. A curved stairlift needs a rail made for your staircase, which typically takes around two to three weeks from survey to installation, and the engineer usually finishes the fitting within half a day.

Do I pay VAT on a stairlift?+

Not if you are chronically sick or disabled and the stairlift is for your own home. HMRC VAT Notice 701/7 lets suppliers zero-rate the stairlift, its installation and repairs once you sign a simple declaration. People aged 60 or over who don't qualify for zero-rating pay a reduced 5% rate when the stairlift is supplied and installed.

Do you fit reconditioned stairlifts?+

Yes. Reconditioned straight stairlifts start from £995 fitted. Like our new stairlifts, they're professionally installed and come with a 12-month warranty.

Which areas do you cover?+

We fit stairlifts across Greater Manchester, including Manchester, Stockport, Bolton, Salford, Oldham, Wigan, Bury, Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Hyde, Stalybridge, Droylsden and Audenshaw.
